Redding, Calif. — February 20, 2026 — The Shasta College women's basketball team closed out their 2025–26 season on a high note Saturday afternoon, securing a strong 58–48 victory over visiting Feather River College.
The Knights set the tone early with disciplined defense and efficient first-half shooting, jumping out to a 28–15 lead by halftime. Shasta's balanced offensive effort kept them in control throughout the game, fending off a late Golden Eagles rally in the fourth quarter to seal the ten-point win.
Sophomore forward Taylor Ford led the way for the Knights with 14 points and 10 rebounds, recording her sixth double-double of the season. Emmie Freitas added 12 points, hitting two key three-pointers that helped build Shasta's second-quarter momentum. Maleesa Miles provided an energy boost off the bench with 9 points and a team-high 4 made free throws.
Playmaker Rowyn Riley stuffed the stat sheet with 9 points and 6 assists, efficiently guiding the Shasta offense, while Natalie Martinez added a strong defensive presence, pulling down 6 rebounds and contributing 4 points.
As a team, Shasta shot 37.3% from the field and outrebounded Feather River 33–29. The Knights also showed composure at the free-throw line, converting 17 of 26 attempts (65.4%), a margin that proved crucial down the stretch.
With the win, Shasta concludes its season on a positive note, showcasing the grit and cohesion that defined their late season play. This victory serves as a strong foundation for the program heading into next year, with several key contributors expected to return.
