The Shasta College women's basketball team continued its strong stretch in Golden Valley Conference play on Saturday, picking up a decisive 53–38 road win over Feather River College. The victory marks the Knights' third conference win of the season as they prepare for their final road matchup at Lassen College this Wednesday, February 11.
Shasta's consistent effort on both ends of the floor proved too much for the Golden Eagles. The Knights built an early lead, posting 13 points in the first quarter and extending their advantage to double digits by halftime. A balanced scoring attack and persistent defense kept Feather River in check throughout, limiting them to just nine fourth-quarter points.
Sophomore guard Taylor Ford led Shasta with 13 points and 12 rebounds, posting an impressive double-double that anchored the offensive rhythm. Rowyn Riley added 12 points, connecting on three shots from beyond the arc and knocking down key free throws during third-quarter runs. Emmie Freitas provided steady play on both ends, contributing 8 points and six rebounds, while Natalie Martinez added 5 points and four rebounds off the bench to spark the second unit.
As a team, Shasta shot 31.5% from the field but made up for it with hustle and rebounding, pulling down 41 total boards and holding Feather River to just 38 total points. The Knights also forced multiple turnovers and converted them into transition opportunities that sealed the win.
With the victory, Shasta improves its position in the GVC standings and looks ahead to a key road contest against Lassen College on Wednesday, February 11, before returning home to close out the conference slate.
