Shasta College Men's Track & Field Performs Strong at Cody Beaumont Invite:
Shasta College's men's track and field team turned in a strong all-around performance at the Cody B Invite on Saturday, March 7, 2026, highlighted by event victories on the track and in the jumps and throws.
Knights sprint group leads the way
Freshman sprinter Aiden McFall headlined the day on the track, winning the 200 meters in 22.29, edging out four-year competitors from Simpson and Chico State to secure Shasta's lone track event title of the meet. Earlier in the day, McFall had already made noise in the 100 meters, placing third in 11.23 in a dead heat for the bronze, giving the Knights an early boost in the team standings. Fellow freshman Alijah Bobo was close behind in the 100, finishing fifth in 11.27 to place two Shasta sprinters in the top five of the event.
In the 400 meters, freshman Benny Guitron continued the trend of impact rookie performances by placing fifth in 50.17 against a loaded Chico State quarter-mile group, securing more valuable points for the Knights. Shasta's sprint and mid-sprint crew added important depth as Kyron Albright (24.42) and Arthur Wilson (24.69) scored solid mid-pack finishes in the 200, while several other freshmen gained early-season experience in both the 100 and 200.
Middle distance crew puts points on the board
Freshman middle-distance runner Joel Harrang paced the Knights in the longer races, closing well in the 800 and 1500. Harrang placed seventh in the 800 (2:13.93) in a tight, tactical race, then came back for a sixth-place finish in the 1500 in 4:32.38, securing points in both of his events. Teammate and fellow freshman Nathan Mazur added to the total with an eighth-place finish in the 1500 at 4:36.23, giving Shasta two scorers in the same distance event.
Big day in the field events
Shasta's biggest statement came in the field, where the Knights captured individual event wins in both the long jump and javelin. Freshman jumper Alijah Bobo, after his strong 100 performance, soared 6.40 meters (21 feet) to win the long jump and claim 10 points, out-dueling Chico State's deep jumps squad. Freshman Princeton Saechao added depth by finishing 10th in the long jump with a leap of 5.55 meters.
In the pole vault, freshman Johnathan Harnois cleared 2.89 meters (9-5.75) to finish third, matching the height of Butte's top vaulter and giving Shasta key points in a technical event. Sophomore thrower Judah Werner powered the Knights in the throws, delivering one of the top overall performances of the day by winning the javelin with a throw of 53.74 meters (176-4), topping a strong Chico State contingent and locking down another event title. Werner was also a factor in the hammer throw, placing sixth at 43.44 meters (142-6) to add more scoring from the throws group.
Freshman Carson Miller chipped in with solid work in the shot put and discus, finishing 12th in the shot at 11.51 meters (37-9.25) and 19th in the discus at 33.80 meters (110-11), giving Shasta a presence across multiple throwing events.
Team finish and early-season momentum
Against a field that included four-year programs like Chico State and Simpson (Cal.), along with conference rivals Butte, Redwoods, and Yuba, Shasta's men finished fourth overall in the team standings with 72.5 points. The combination of freshman standouts and sophomore leadership gave the Knights a balanced scoring profile, with points coming from sprints, middle distance, jumps, vault, and the throws.
With early-season benchmarks now set and several athletes already at or near PR territory, Shasta College's men's track and field team leaves the Cody B Invite with momentum and confidence heading into the heart of the spring schedule.
