VOLLEYBALL DOMINATES DIABLO VALLEY IN STRAIGHT SETS

In an impressive display of teamwork and skill, Shasta College swept Diablo Valley College in a women's volleyball match held at Diablo Valley on August 29, 2025. The victory marked Shasta's return to form after a mixed start to the season, improving their record to 2-2, while Diablo Valley slipped to 0-2.

Shasta College seized control early in each set, capitalizing on their powerful offense and precise serves. The team demonstrated consistency, securing wins with set scores of 25-23, 25-16, and 25-12. Notably, the Shasta players displayed remarkable efficiency, reflected in their superior hitting percentages throughout the match.

Offensive Prowess and Highlight Performers

Lauren Vaughn and Hailey Gunn spearheaded Shasta's offensive efforts. Vaughn contributed nine kills with an impressive .500 hitting percentage, while Gunn added eight kills, hitting .438. Their performance was complemented by Charlize Elam's perfect showing, with eight kills and a .727 hitting percentage, providing substantial points for the team.

On the distribution front, Karla Sandoval-DiMaggio and Shayla Burton played pivotal roles, registering 13 and 16 assists respectively. Their ability to set up consistent opportunities enabled the attacking players to maintain pressure on Diablo Valley's defense.
