REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College’s women’s soccer team lost both of its matches last week, falling 5-1 to Modesto and 7-0 at Merced.

REDDING, Calif. – Shasta College's women's soccer team lost both of its matches last week, falling 5-1 to Modesto and 7-0 at Merced.

Against Modesto, the Knights trailed 2-0 at halftime and 5-0 before Sophia Triantafyllou scored on a cross from Grace Erickson in the 89th minute for their first goal of the season. Jayda Johnson totaled 16 saves in 21 shots for the Knights. Serena Elwood and Erickson each recorded two shots out of Shasta's seven attempted.

In the loss against Merced, Shasta allowed 12 shots on goal, allowing seven goals on three assists.

Shasta (0-3) takes a week off before playing at Sierra College on Sept. 19.
